Aruna Samivelu's work can be categorised as concrete painting. She explores geometric shapes, lines, spaces and fields. Her work stems from her penchant for relationships. She observes, sees and recognises patterns everywhere: in foliage, in social situations, in chance. Her work is inspired by the exploration of relationships and proportions. She explores the relationship between order and chaos and the dynamics between the two. She captures the interaction of order and chaos by playing with symmetry and asymmetry. This is based on the idea that man discovers patterns everywhere, which he uses to bring order to the surrounding chaos, in other words, to give meaning to chaos. This creates a narrative in every observation by the viewer, which is always subjective.
Aruna Samivelu studied at the Akademie für Malerei Berlin from 2014 to 2019 and graduated as a master student of Ute Wöllmann. In 2022 she co-founded the artists' collective A. She lives and works in Berlin.

The sound sculptor and media artist Timo Kahlen (*1966) works with ephemeral, changeable materials: with light and wind, with pixels and dust, with noise, vibration and sound. His intermediary works - often on pressing contemporary issues - have been presented at KUNST-WERKE Berlin (1991), at biennials such as MANIFESTA 7: Scenarios (2008), at ZKM Karlsruhe (2012), at Ruine der Künste Berlin (2023) and in more than 250 exhibitions of contemporary media art. The source material for the cable sculptures shown here are discarded network, power, audio and data cables. Kahlen lives, teaches and works in Berlin.

Yours, Ute Wöllmann
