The connecting element between these two artists is the colour stain and its form. The title of the exhibition "splashes and dots" shows the tension between gestural splashes of colour and paint applied with great verve on canvas and the dot in its various forms. With Harald Pompl the dots are cast from synthetic resin coloured with pigments into round discs. Harald Pompl's "dots" can be placed anywhere on the walls, ceilings and floors of the exhibition space. The dialogue with the moving "splashes" on the canvases of Eva Erbacher is exciting and multifaceted. In the centre of the exhibition space, Harald Pompl's spatial sculpture "splashes" responds to Eva Erbacher's paintings with a spatial fragmentation of his coloured resin discs. She in turn shows a two-dimensional and transparent-delicate variation of the "dots" in the miniature paintings with ink on coloured Plexiglas.

Eva Erbacher's paintings are characterised by conscious decisions for or against certain painterly processes, which she brings to bear. The forms emerge organically from the painting process. In her paintings, a precisely defined gesture determines the application of paint, be it as vertical strokes, broad bands of lines or as patches of colour applied with great verve, at the edges of which the paint splashes to the side. The permanent repetition of the same action, which leads to painterly condensation over many layers of colour, is a decisive characteristic of her paintings. Despite the many layers, the impression of lightness and transparency remains. She is interested in bringing about floating states of individual patches and areas of colour and creating a fragile spatial effect that is held in place by the colour and layered architecture of the painting.
The weeks-long process of creation, which lays layer upon layer of colour, gesture upon gesture, destroying the old in favour of the new, only ever reveals one moment in time. The painting as we see it is the end product of many layers and a conscious decision for this one moment.
Harald Pompl casts discs from coloured synthetic resin, which are then cut, chipped or polished into the desired shape and assembled or staged in various sculptural concepts. He stacks these individual discs on a central axis to form impressive object bodies and steles or fuses them together again to form a solid column. This exhibition focuses on the "dots" series of works, individual coloured discs that are placed at some distance from the wall and present their form and colour in front of it.
