Juliane von Arnim

Artist's work

Juliane von Arnim's work is predominantly dedicated to nature in the form of landscape paintings or views of plants or insects. However, her approach is less botanically precise and more intuitive and associative. The pictures of beetles or fungi and lichens appear playful, but without being poppy or
to appear superficial and striking. They were usually created in many stages, as if she had scratched the pictorial objects free from deeper layers or as if they had grown out of them. Some appear inconspicuous, others have the appearance of precious stones - preciously emphasised and lovingly crafted.
