Artistic position

Ingeborg Rauss uses the methods of philosophical scrutiny to bring both everyday visual social life and the diversity of systems of order into her own form. For her, painting is an analytical instrument for appropriating the world. Her de-individualised ciphers refer to structures, relations and narratives that shape our world. Internationally legible pictograms and personal pictorial abbreviations serve as her means of expression. Within this conceptual approach, she deconstructs and reconstructs the reality that appears to her. The grid is the overriding organising principle, in which she is inspired by Op Art and Concrete Art, without, however, remaining with their non-representational nature and concentration on questions of perception.
