Artistic position

Christiane Budig places people and their confrontation with the world around them at the centre of her artistic exploration.

Christiane Budig works with glass, a fragile, transparent material.
She creates moulds of the human body that envelop an inner void like an outer skin.

The sculptures are extremely fragile, they seem transparent, but the glass distorts the view.
And everything is unclear despite transparency.
The boundaries between inside and outside can no longer be precisely defined.

Christiane Budig combines glass with many other materials, such as rubber, metal, wood and mirrors.
She increases the expressiveness of her sculptures through this contact of materials.
