Marita Czepa is concerned with beauty and destruction; she is interested in the danger that emanates from our human behaviour. Her painted and drawn series are created exclusively on found or used paper. In plein-airs for the environment, she supports environmental initiatives with her works.
In the series "Finds - Archaeology of the future" she thematises the discarding, appreciation and preservation of things of mass consumption. Since 2015, she has been creating beguilingly realistic coloured pencil drawings on used index cards or cardboard boxes. This series now comprises over 800 works.
In her series "Land" Marita Czepa paints over old magazine papers with ink and watercolour. The watercolour gains an independent character and a new presence on these surfaces. She creates colourful landscapes that are increasingly threatened by human intervention. She uses the sensitive technique of watercolour as an artistic approach to the vulnerability of nature.
