Bornemann's work at the academy

Irmgard Bornemann's work has undergone an astonishing development at the Academy of Painting.
taken. If you compare current pictures with works from five years ago, it's hard to believe,
that they are the same artist, and yet Irmgard Bornemann is essentially a
very down-to-earth person. She started out with a legion of pen and ink drawings of
Pollard willows. At the time, I had the feeling that Irmgard didn't really want to leave her house in
nature, which she loved, to draw or paint the pastures around her.
she was and is so confident in it.
However, it is thanks to her curiosity and love of experimentation that Irmgard Bornemann was able to
discovered and developed something completely different for herself in the course of her studies: the bold oil paint, thick
applied. An old-fashioned patterned red velour wallpaper then has relief, motif and pattern
which Irmgard intuitively completed with impasto colour paste.
In the course of time, the collaged wallpaper pieces increasingly gave way in favour of a freer
composition. Now the songbirds, cockatoos, ravens and wolves are often just the occasion for a
free interplay of colour masses applied in relief, sometimes contrasting with the
thin lines of the early pen and ink drawings. Nevertheless, free abstraction is not her speciality.
Main interest - the narrative moment is and remains important to her.
Irmgard Bornemann has now consistently painted her motifs in various monochrome colours.
colours and created convincing results in their own visual language: in the
dignified black, in sweet pink as well as in sober white.
She goes her way very confidently and unwaveringly and she knows how to playfully
her work with ever new facets and to challenge the viewer with her
surprise.
I sincerely wish her work and the relief-like pictures every success!
