Artists from the ANQUIN'S gallery programme from Reus, about an hour away from Barcelona, are guests at the ROOT gallery. Just in time for the beginning of spring, their pictures are messengers of a southern life close to the sea and thus fulfil an old longing of Berliners, which Tucholsky already knew and described in his poem "The Ideal":
"Yes, you would like that:
A villa in the countryside with a large terrace, the Baltic Sea in front, Friedrichstrasse behind; with a beautiful view, rural and sophisticated,
You can see the Zugspitze from the bathroom - but you don't have far to go to the cinema in the evening ... ... That someone has everything:
That's rare."
However, we have a selection of contemporary pictures that thematise today's modern life in a city near the sea, and do not tell this story with the superficial view of tourists, but show us the view of the local artists on their city and on their country. Atmospheric snapshots full of light and warmth, full of vibrant life on the beach and in the water, but also of the beauty of Spanish backyards and the view from a mountain of a modern city lying in a valley.
Could it also be here? Where are the differences? What is the special look of the Spanish artists?
You are cordially invited to the ROOT gallery to find out.
