Dear friends of the ROOT Gallery,
I cordially invite you to the vernissage of the exhibition "LINA LEBT" on Monday, 26 May 2025 at 7 pm in the ROOT Gallery.
The exhibition is dedicated to Lina Lebt (1953-2024) and presents her multifaceted oeuvre in a posthumous retrospective. In addition to important masterpieces and early works, numerous previously unpublished works are also being presented to the public for the first time.
A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to Lina's experimental, installation and textile works. In a separate room, embroidered compositions, sewn fabric objects and erectable constructions are on display, which move between sculpture, object and installation. These works illustrate Lina's fearless openness towards material and form and provide an insight into her free, process-orientated approach to art.
The exhibition was curated by Ute Wöllmann, who will give a memorial speech in honour of her former master student at the opening.
Johanna Drechsler, friend, companion and occasional contributor to Lina's work, will also speak. Some of the exhibited works were created in a joint collaboration.
The exhibition invites visitors to a multi-layered, impressive encounter with the work of an artist who will be remembered: powerful, playful and uncompromisingly unique.
As always, you can also take part in the vernissage via ZOOM.
