Vernissage "Kveðja frá Íslandi"

Dear friends of the ROOT Gallery,

In September, Andreas Amrhein and I were artists in residence in Hellissandur, in a unique studio house in a secluded location, but still within walking distance of the small village of Hellissandur, with a view on one side over lava fields to Snæfellsjökull and on the other side of the studio over salt marshes to the sea. At the very tip in the north-west of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, a three-hour drive from Reykjavik, our everyday lives were far away and we were able to really immerse ourselves in our artistic work. We were immediately mesmerised by the spectacular, awe-inspiring landscape. Working artistically under the influence of this environment was a very rewarding experience. Our impressions were reflected accordingly in our work.
